ATTRACT, an initiative run by research infrastructures, industry experts, and business and innovation specialists, recently hosted its anticipated Pre-Final Conference at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France. This event, held on June 12-13, spotlighted the progress and potential of the 36 cutting-edge projects funded under ATTRACT phase 2.
AHEAD, an R&D&I project under ATTRACT phase 2, aims at providing technology bricks enabling in situ sensing, heating and energy harvesting from fluids to achieve standalone measurements and data transmission. The project seeks to validate these developments to Technology Readiness Level 7 through two specific use cases: Mechanically Pumped Loops (MPL) for space applications and CO2-based industrial refrigeration systems.
Nowadays, the commercialisation of scientific and technological innovations is crucial for economic and social advancement. However, one of the biggest challenges is transforming scientific discoveries into viable market products and services.
This year, the European Union commemorates 40 years since the launch of its first Framework Programme (FP) for research. To mark this milestone, Science|Business hosted its public annual Network conference gathering global leaders in science, technology, and innovation to discuss the achievements of the FPs, their future directions, and the role of science and technology in shaping the next four decades.
What are the key priorities for climate-related research in the short and medium terms? How can EU funding support and leverage the success of green tech incubators, entrepreneurs and international cooperation? These are some of the questions that were discussed at the Science|Business Green Deal & Climate days event, which was held in Brussels on September 18-19 and supported by ATTRACT.
During the last edition of the 6th Technology and Instrumentation in Particle Physics (TIPP 2023), the ATTRACT project was presented by Pablo García Tello who shared some of the lessons learnt during the two phases of this project that could prove insightful for understanding the process of managing R&D&I Innovation Ecosystems.
Fabiola Gianotti, Director General of CERN, together with John Elkann, CEO of Exor, and other jury members, awarded the winners of the 2023 edition of Innovation 4 Change, an educational programme developed by the Collège des Ingénieurs (CDI) & CERN's innovation space, IdeaSquare.
