Everyone from the CERN community - researchers, EU project collaborators, students and guests - is welcome to take advantage of our space to put innovative ideas to the test.
Over 200 CERN personnel use IdeaSquare’s space every year. With easily accessible 3D printers, laser cutters, and interactive smartboards, CERN users can quickly build and experiment with prototypes. Use of our facilities is free of charge, unless larger volumes of materials are required.
If you are part of the CERN community, you can now book our workshop machines even more easily via the Prototyping calendar and requests page. We also offer training on the use of our various machines with one of our prototyping facilitators, which you can also register for using a form available on the page.
Since its creation, IdeaSquare has offered prototyping spaces to the CERN community. All its members are welcome to visit us to learn about design-driven methodologies, take part in prototyping workshops and use our instrumentation as part of their experiments. What’s more, IdeaSquare delivers flexibility and accessibility, a singular place to work and innovate for both CERN members and students. The chance to interact with each other, which can inspire reflection and different ways of thinking as well as practical learning, encourages many within CERN to appreciate the depth of IdeaSquare’s potential, returning to carry out other work.
