The OIS Research Conference 2022 (hybrid conference) took place both physically at CERN IdeaSquare and online from 11-13 May, 2022.
The Relationships between Artificial Intelligence, Openness and Collaboration in Science” was the theme of this year Open Innovation in Science conference IdeaSquare - the innovation space at CERN
Highlights of the conference included, papers on the power of crowdsourcing, challenges of inter and transdisciplinary research collaborations, opendata and infrastructure sharing, as well as balancing GDPR and different linkages between science and industry.
While exploring the question: "How can Big Data help us understand human behavior, social networks, and success?", keynote speaker Ashun Wang stated that "Small teams drive innovations, large teams shift the focus to developmental. Both are essential for science and technology.“
Together the participants and panelists Anita Schjøll Brede CEO Iris.ai, Hila Lifshitz- Assaf researcher NYU Stern Management Consulting Group, James Evans Scientist University of Chicago and Kevin Crowston professor Syracuse University debated about the potential and limitations of data and AI in enhancing science itself.
